Lea leads ASCO, which she founded in 2018 to save lives of individuals with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in rural Africa. Her journey began while in 3rd year in university with the 10003 Warrior Project, where she shared the stories of 400 people living with SCD in Kenya, highlighting the urgent need for change.
Post university, Lea took the time to create awareness and advocate for SCD in the most rural and influential spaces. She later decided to move back to her ancestral home to understand what it would take to make SCD patients thrive.
She increasingly understood the components to healthy lives for people with SCD; access to affordable early and continuous care close to people, addressing social issues within which patients and their households live, and advocacy and awareness at all levels and rooms of concern
With 10 years of advocacy experience, Lea has worked to educate communities and drive collaborative stakeholders solutions to understand and solve SCD. She holds a business degree and masters in Global Health Delivery from the University of Global Health Equity.
